AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Appreciating the cooperation and support of grand maraji, scholars and clerics, especially Hojatoleslam val-Muslemin Marvi, the Custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) with the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus, the President stated that speeding up the reopening of holy places and pilgrimage sites by observing health protocols has been -and is- one of the main concerns of the government”.

In a phone call with the Custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) on Tuesday, Dr Hassan Rouhani stated, "Unfortunately, with the spread of this disease, the thirsty souls of those who love Ahl al-Bayt (AS) were deprived of the pilgrimage to the holy shrines of the country, both on New Year's eve and on religious holidays and occasions".

The President said, "With the outbreak of coronavirus and in order to maintain the health of the believers and lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), which has been constantly emphasised by Imams, we had to perform an important religious obligation, which is to protect the health of the believers”.

Dr Rouhani said, "This cooperation, support and resistance to some provocations was the ultimate help to the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus and preventing the further spread of this disease and maintaining the health of the people".

The President said that the government wishes to be able to pave the way for the pilgrimage of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) again by controlling coronavirus and reducing the risk of the spread of this dangerous disease.

"From the very beginning, the government, along with health restrictions and protocols, made efforts to reopen the activities of low-risk businesses that played a very important role in people's livelihoods and lives, in consultation with the esteemed clergy of the seminary of Qom, and have been trying to prepare policies and programs to reopen religious places,” he said.

Referring to the recent decision of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus, Dr Rouhani said, "After discussions, it was decided that in the process of implementing the Smart Social Distancing programme, we make efforts to at least reopen the courtyards of religious places by observing the social distancing programme”.

The President added, "We hope to be able to reopen the courtyards of the holy places with the cooperation of the Custodian of Imam Reza’s (AS) Holy Shrine, as well as other holy Shrines”.

Dr Rouhani said, "I thank and appreciate the grand maraji, clerics and custodians of all holy shrines, especially Your Excellency, for fully complying with the policies of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus, and I hope that by controlling this virus, the doors of the country's holy shrines will open to the believers”.
