AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Mosques in Algeria will broadcast Quran recitation during the holy month of Ramadan, an official said.
Muhammad Adir Mashnan, head of the Fatwa Committee of the country’s Religious Affairs Ministry, noted that mosques have been closed to worshippers as part of measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
He added that during the closure of mosques, Quran recitations as well as religious speeches will be broadcast from their minarets, en-Nahar daily reported.
According to Mashnan, speeches by prayer leaders and imam will be available online for those willing to listen to them.
In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, most countries have closed mosques, churches and other religious centers and banned gatherings.
The novel coronavirus has infected nearly 2.5 million people worldwide and killed more than 170,000.
