AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The most important duty of each country’s scientific institutions is to advance and develop science based on existing needs.
Development of science is examined based on the number of scientific articles published in reputable scientific journals, which is indicative of scientific growth in academic centers of that country, as well as the number of references given to those published articles.
Between 1996 and 2008, Islamic Republic of Iran has increased the number of its scientific articles from 736 to 13238, i.e. 18 times more, and this is the fastest increase in publishing scientific articles in the world.
New Scientist has recently announced this achievement through publishing an article on the development of science production in the world.
In addition, in 2016, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, known as UNCTAD, announced that “Iran has had significant advances in Higher Education and Technology since 1990, and the rate of Iran’s scientific productions has increased from 0.07 percent in 1996 to 1.5 percent n 2015.”
According to this international institution, “The rate of Iran’s scientific productions has also increased from 3.5 percent in 1996 to 28.6 percent in 2015 in the Middle-East.”
Also, in 2017, Islamic Republic of Iran achieved the first rank among 25 world top science producing countries, with a growth percentage of 8.9.
