AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Syrian people gathered in the main square of Aleppo city to denounce the US assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

The Sa’adallah Al-Jabri Square in the city of Aleppo on Tuesday witnessed a mass gathering in commemoration of Iranian Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was martyred last Friday in a US air attack near Baghdad International Airport.

During another mourning service in commemoration of martyred Iranian general in the Rashid Mosque this week, where attendees chanted "Down with America. Down with Israel," a resident of Aleppo said, "We demand the leadership of the resistance’s axis to have a hard and staggering response against the American and Israeli forces."

"The martyr [Soleimani] had a role in liberating most of the Syrian territories. He was wherever he needed to be. The free and resistant world has lost one of its men today," stated another resident.

Lt. General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was the deputy head of Iraq’s Hashd al-Sha'abi (PMU), and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of Friday.

The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of US President Donald Trump.

In a message on Friday morning, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned that harsh revenge awaits the criminals behind the martyrdom of General Soleimani.

Ayatollah Khamenei also reminded all friends and enemies of the Iranian general that the resistance path will continue vigorously, stressing that continued battle and ultimate victory will disappoint the murderers and criminals.
