IRGC Rejects Reports on General Soleimani’s Injury

Spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) rejected as “sheer lie” reports that IRGC Quds Force Commander Major General Qassem Soleimani has been injured in Syria, saying such allegations are aimed at influencing the public opinion and the Resistance forces.

Certain media reports on Tuesday claimed that General Soleimani and two of his companions were seriously injured 12 days ago in Aleppo’s battles after they had been targeted with a TOW anti-tank rocket.

Head of the IRGC Public Relations Department General Ramezan Sharif stressed that General Soleimani is in perfect health and is energetically assisting the Islamic Resistance in Syria and Iraq in their fight against Takfiri terrorists.

“We consider the reports on his injury as lies aimed at influencing the public opinion and the Resistance Front,” General Sharif stated.

“The recent strategic victories of the Resistance Front in Syria and the fatal blow to the body of Daesh and (other) Takfiri terrorists in Aleppo and Latakia have become a pretext for international Zionist-affiliated media to resort to lies and spread baseless rumors in a bid to cover up these defeats and mislead the public opinion,” he added.

General Sharif described such attempts as being doomed to failure, adding that people’s opinion and the morale of Muslim fighters would not be influenced by such rumors and allegations.

Iran, a close ally of Syria, has been supporting the legitimate Syrian government in the fight against terrorists.

Tehran has already made it clear that its assistance to Syria is confined to consultation and advisory help.

Back in mid-October, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed that Iran has no boots on the ground in Syria, but at the same time added that the country will boost its advisory role against terrorism in the region.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with Takfiri terrorists from various groups, including the ISIL, currently controlling parts of it.

The ISIL terrorist group is believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.
