An Iraqi Quran researcher described unity of Muslim Ummah as a noble and key concept stressed in the Holy Quran and Nabawi Sunnah.

Mohammad Reza Matar Al-Sharifi, researcher in Quranic sciences and expert in Islamic studies, in a paper presented at the forum on “Islamic Unity, Challenges and Opportunities in View of Quran” underlined the importance of Muslim unity.

The forum was held on January 2 on the sidelines of the 5th international Quran Competition for Muslim Students.

In his paper, Al-Sharifi investigated the idea that says the differences in principles of sects are the main cause of discord among Muslims.

The concept of “Ummah” in view of the Holy Quran and its relation with the concept of “Muslim Ummah” as a key concept, are also discussed in his research.

Al-Sharifi stressed that the Muslim Ummah should not seek the origin of its backwardness in scientific and economic factors but in disunity.

The researcher concluded that the concept of Muslim Ummah is a noble and key concept which is stressed in the Holy Quran and Nabawi Sunnah and that it cannot be the cause of division among Muslims.
