A top Iranian lawmaker says the large reception that greeted the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in the holy city of Qom was a wake-up call for Western media.
"The powerful wave of their religious sentiments not only swept aside the delusional claims of Western media but also helped them arrive at a new way of thought that the ties between the Leader and the people cannot be measured by superficial calculations," Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani told Parliament (Majlis) on Saturday.
The remarks came one day after Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei returned to Tehran following a 10-day visit to Qom, where he met with senior officials, students, clerics as well as the families of Iranian martyrs.
Larijani, who also represents Qom in Majlis, said the insightful speeches of the Leader set him apart from other political and religious leaders.
"The analysis and evaluation of this issue proves that when political thought is truly…based on the pure idea of monotheism… it changes one's reaction... toward different phenomena," Larijani added.
In a speech on Wednesday, Imam Khamenei said the enemies of Iran use propaganda to "belittle" the symbols of the Revolution and Islam such as the holy city of Qom.
