Iran's President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Tehran minutes ago to mark the end of his visit to Malaysia and Japan that took place at the official invitation of the two countries’ prime ministers.
AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran's President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Tehran minutes ago to mark the end of his visit to Malaysia and Japan that took place at the official invitation of the two countries’ prime ministers.
Speaking at Mehrabad Airport on Saturday evening upon arrival from his visit to Malaysia and Japan, President Hassan Rouhani said, "The Kuala Lumpur Summit is a modern method for gathering Muslims and Islamic intellectuals”.
“Around 80 countries, intellectuals and experts and around 2000 guests were invited to the summit, and the leaders of Islamic countries, Iran, Turkey, Qatar and Malaysia were attending,” he said.
The President continued, "In addition to addressing the general assembly, a roundtable was held regarding how we should develop the World of Islam”.
Referring to the summit of leaders of Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, and Qatar, he said, "In this summit, good decisions were made for cooperation among the 4 countries”.
“Deepening relations with Malaysia as a friendly country is important for us, and fortunately, these relations have been cementing during the term of office of this government,” he said.
Dr Rouhani added, "We had 3-4 meetings with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad regarding bilateral relations and made good decisions in this regard, and he is willing to visit Iran in the near future”.
The President said, "Fortunately, good decisions have been made in financial and banking fields”.
“On the sidelines of the summit, I had a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey and we discussed bilateral and regional issues, including Syria,” he said.
The President continued, "I also had a meeting with the Qatari Emir and discussed cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE) Initiative”.
On the goal of visit to Japan, he said, "This year was the 90th anniversary of political relations between the two countries and fortunately, Mr Abe and I had 3 meetings this year”.
He continued, "In this visit, we discussed bilateral relations and political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries”.
“The Japanese and we had certain suggestions for breaking the sanctions that were decided to look into,” said Dr Rouhani.
He added, "Today, we had a meeting with representatives of Japanese companies that were working in Iran, whose offices in Tehran are still active and they have maintained their economic relations with Iran under sanctions”.
Dr Rouhani also went on to state, "The Japanese companies are determined to invest in Iran”.
Referring to his meeting with the Japanese PM, he said, "We also discussed sanctions. Everyone knows that the US’ move in imposing sanctions is against the international regulations and the Americans have to return from the wrong path they have taken”.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also went on to say, "Sanctions are to everyone’s detriment and a lose-lose decision”.
“The Japanese, Europeans and others are working to break the sanctions and they have suggestions and solutions in this regard, and we believe that breaking the sanctions is a national and revolutionary duty for all of us”.
