Iraqi minister: Al-Baghdadi hiding underground near Syrian border

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Iraqi Interior Minister Jabir Zubaidi claims that the ِDaesh (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is hiding in an area near Rutba and Qaim districts of western Iraq.

“According to the intelligence gathered by our forces, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is staying in underground rooms dug in the east of Rutba and Qaim districts,” Zubaidi said in a statement.

He further explained that these underground hideouts have been established by Daesh in 2013 before the extremist group overran Mosul. “They were then intended to be used to organize attacks on Baghdad,” he added.

The Iraqi minister also warned that these hideouts, numbering tens, must be discovered and destroyed or they can accommodate Takfiris (extremists) who pose threat to Anbar and Salahaddin provinces.

The statement comes after the US military sources said earlier this week that the Daesh Leader, the most-wanted terrorist at the moment, has left Mosul and now is hiding in the desert, without specifying his exact whereabouts.
