AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami lauded the Iranian Navy for sending fleet of warships to the Atlantic Ocean, describing it as a new chapter in enhancing Iran’s defense power.

“It is a great event and is a sign of the determination of Iran and Iranians to achieve the highest peaks of might and role-playing on the world stage,” General Salami said in a message on Sunday.

“With God’s help, a new chapter will start for strengthening the defense power and improving the deterrence capacities of the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Iran,” he added.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in a message to the Army commander on Saturday lauded the Iranian naval forces for successfully completing their mission which included voyaging in the Atlantic Ocean.

“Congratulations on the mighty and honorable return of the 75th Fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army’s Navy from the dangerous mission of voyaging in the Atlantic Ocean, which has been carried out for the first time in the history of the country's navigation,” the message to Major General Abdolrahim Moussavi said.

“Today, thanks God, the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran is present on the scene with its insightful, zealous and tireless staff, and ready to fight for the great goals of the glorious Islamic Revolution. Maintain and upgrade these capabilities,” he ordered the Navy.

“Convey my gratitude and appreciation to the Commander and each of the dear staff of the fleet and other relevant authorities,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Last Tuesday, Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said that the 75th fleet of warships returned home after successfully carrying out its mission in the Northern parts of the Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and St. Petersburg port in Russia.

"The largest historical military event in the sea was accomplished by the Iranian Navy with the deployment of a fleet consisting of the home-made Sahand destroyer and the Makran support ship,” Rear Admiral Irani told reporters in a press conference, elaborating on the mission of the fleet.

"The 75th fleet accomplished its mission by crossing the three Indian ocean, the South Atlantic and the North Atlantic, and traveling around 45,000 kilometers across the oceans and returning to Iran," he added.

Rear Admiral Irani stated that the mission was a sign of self-confidence and authority to the world, reminding that Sahand destroyer was constructed and went under maintenance and modernization by means of the most up-to-date domestic scientific capabilities.

“This important and strategic mission shows Iran's capability and authority. Iran has always been a country that invited all the regional countries to peace and friendship," he added.

Referring to the country's progress under the sanctions and pressure, the commander noted, "Although sanctions and all-out pressure were put on the country and the defense industry, we were able to neutralize the sanctions by relying on our domestic power."

He considered it very important to carry out the mission in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, saying, "The passage of the fleet of the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the waters in which the arrogant powers are present and the success of this mission shows the capability and authority of Iran."
