AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Abbas (a.s.) announced, “The number of pilgrims participating in the Arbaeen Hussaini (a.s.) ceremony this year has reached more than 16 million.”

In a statement, while offering condolences on the occasion of the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussain (a.s.), to Imam Mahdi (a.s.), the Sources of Emulation, and the whole Islamic world, especially Iraq, the land of the prophets and saints, the Secretariat asked God Almighty for peace and tranquility for all Islamic countries, and also prayed for the pilgrims to return to their homes in perfect health after performing the pilgrimage to the holy shrines.

“For more than 13 centuries, the city of Karbala has hosted pilgrims to the shrines of Imam Hussain (a.s.) and Hazrat Abbas (a.s.). The custodians of these holy places are proud to serve the pilgrims. Statistical and electronic documentation has been one of the most important things that has been done in recent years in order to provide more services to pilgrims,” this statement reads.

“The number of pilgrims who traveled to Karbala during the Arbaeen Hossaini days reached 16,327,542. The pilgrims entered Karbala from the five main entrances from Baghdad, Najaf, Babylon, and Husseiniyah (the two main routes),” the Secretariat stated.
