The festival, which was held in the square between the two Holy Shrines, is held annually in commemoration and remembrance of one of the greatest calamities and tribulations that befell the Prophet’s house, namely, the calamity of the martyrdom of the Prophet’s beloved daughter (may God bless him and his family) and the joy of his eye; the Lady of Fatima az-Zahra (Peace of God be upon her).
