Lebanese leaders condemn Israel’s repeated ceasefire violations

Lebanese leaders have strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, calling for international intervention. The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon urged diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. Lebanon demands Israel’s full withdrawal from occupied southern regions.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Israel’s latest aggression against Beirut has triggered strong reactions both inside and outside Lebanon.

On Thursday, Lebanese leaders firmly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denounced the Israeli strikes, describing them as a “systematic and deliberate assault” on Lebanon’s security, stability, and economy.

He urged the international community to prevent Israel from continuing its aggression and compel the regime to fully withdraw from Lebanese territory.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also strongly condemned Israel’s attacks, calling them a “flagrant” violation of all international agreements.

In a statement, President Aoun voiced “firm condemnation of the Israeli aggression” and “flagrant violation of an international accord... on the eve of a sacred religious festival.”

Similarly, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on all Lebanese citizens to unite against Israel’s aggression.

The UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon urged an immediate halt to actions that could further undermine the ceasefire.

The coordinator called on all parties to use diplomatic channels to prevent unnecessary escalation.

Following significant losses over 14 months of conflict and failure to achieve its objectives, Israel was forced to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah on November 27, 2024.

Since the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces have continued launching assaults on Lebanon, including airstrikes, violating the truce.

On January 27, Lebanon extended the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

Despite the February 18 deadline, Israel continues to occupy five key regions in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, near the border.

Lebanon has condemned Israel’s continued military presence, viewing it as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and the timeline for withdrawal.

Senior Lebanese officials have pledged to take “all necessary measures” to remove Israeli troops from the country.
