Israeli drone strike kills journalists at al-Ahali Hospital in Gaza

An Israeli drone strike on al-Ahali Hospital in Gaza City killed four journalists, as Israel continues its military campaign. Hamas condemned the attack, calling it a systematic crime against media workers.

AhlulBayt News Agency: More than three dozen people, including four journalists, have been killed in the latest Israeli attacks across Gaza, as the regime continues its military campaign.

Media reports indicate that at least 40 people were killed in Thursday’s attacks, including four journalists.

Sources confirm that the journalists lost their lives when an Israeli drone struck the grounds of al-Ahali Hospital, also known as the Baptist Hospital, in Gaza City.

The victims have been identified as Sulaiman Hajjaj, Ismail Badah, Samir Al-Rifa’i, and Ahmed Qalaja.

Several other journalists and their relatives sustained injuries in the aerial attack.

Fadel Naim, a doctor at the hospital in Gaza City, stated that the medical facility, targeted by the Israeli army for the eighth time, had reopened just two weeks ago.

“Suddenly, we heard a big explosion,” Naim said, describing the drone attack.

Figures indicate that Israeli forces have killed over 230 journalists and media workers since the military campaign began in Gaza more than 19 months ago.

The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 70 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza in the latest 24-hour period.

The latest Israeli strike targeted tents in al-Mawasi refugee camp, resulting in multiple casualties. Several people were also killed in an earlier attack on Gaza City's Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, while Israeli artillery fire struck eastern Gaza.

The Palestinian resistance movement condemned the Israeli military, stating that the targeting of journalists is a systematic crime aimed at silencing their voices and erasing evidence of Israeli crimes.

Hamas urged the international community to take urgent action to protect journalists and hold Israel accountable for its ongoing crimes.

In a separate development on Wednesday, the United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, making it the only country to oppose the measure.

The resolution demanded an immediate ceasefire and the lifting of all restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

This marked the Security Council’s first vote on the issue since November 2024, when the US blocked a resolution calling for an end to Israel’s military campaign.

The Israeli military continues to target Palestinian civilians, striking the blockaded territory with air and artillery attacks.

Since October 2023, the US-Israeli military campaign has resulted in the deaths of over 54,670 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children.
