(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A group of Sydney Muslim youth has organized a special event to help the needy and homeless in Sydney streets, offering them free hot meals, food packs and free hair cut.
The event was organized by Brothers in Need, a group registered as not for profit organization with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits commission (ACNC).
“Out feeding Sydney’s needy with hot food prepared by SWMA [South West Muslim Association] and food packs prepared by Muslim Aid Australia,” the group wrote on a post on their Facebook page.
“We have a special guest Malek from ‘Barber on Wheels’ restoring a bit of dignity to our Sydney brothers. Follow on Instagram barber_onwheels.”
The group states its mission to help the needy wherever they are.
“Our main purpose is to go and do visits to the elderly, the sick, brothers in prison, feed the homeless. If any of you know someone who needs a visit and hasn’t been visited in a long time please inbox the page,” the group states on Facebook.
“If you know someone who is at a nursing home and has no family to visit them please notify us and also those who are sick and are at hospital please do the same.”
Muslims, who have been in Australia for more than 200 years, make up 1.7 percent of its 20-million population.
