Syrian ambassador: ‘Hezbollah not assisting Syria Army’

The Syrian ambassador to Lebanon has denied that Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah is helping the Syrian Army fight foreign-sponsored militants.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ali Abdul Karim Ali made the remarks during a press conference after meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in Beirut on Monday.He said that Syrian government forces do not need any military support and is making gains in several areas held by terrorists.Earlier in the day, the so-called Syrian National Council accused Hezbollah men of helping Syrian troops in their fight against militants.Ali added that security forces are detaining a large number of militants on the border between Lebanon and Syria.Elsewhere in his remarks, Ali called on Arab and Western media outlets to respect moral standards and credibility in their reporting.Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of Army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.The Syrian government has said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals.Several international human rights organizations have accused foreign-sponsored militants of committing war crimes. /129
