(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Saudi Arabia with its interventionist policy in the Iraqi Kurdistan region aims to incite the members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to disrupt security in Iran, secretary of the Expediency Council said.
Mohsen Rezaei made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation from the PUK.
The Iranian forces have had clashes with the PUK in Marivan and Oshnavieh in west and northwest of the country, said Rezaei, stressing that PUK relations with Iran are better than that of with other groups, so the two should strengthen those ties.
Although some regional countries are fighting against the Iraqi, Turkish and Syrian Kurds, Iran is treating the regional Kurds in every country with respect, he said.
Rezaei further added that PUK has a good record of interaction in the past forty or fifty years, adding the PUK relations with Iran has always been stable.
Due to its good political record, the first Iraqi president was elected from that Union after the fall of former dictator of Iraq Saddam Hussein, the official noted.
Rezaei further appreciated the PUK fight against Saddam in the past and against the terrorist group of Daesh at present.
For his part, chief of executive body of PUK Molla Bakhtiar said in the meeting that the union will pay any price to annihilate terrorists.
As he said, the PUK during the past three decades has cooperated with Iran in combat against two joint enemies that were the then Iraqi Baath regime and present Daesh terrorist group.
At present, the danger from Daesh is not less than that of the past Baath regime, the Kurdish official said.
'We are ready to fully cooperate with Iran to fight against Daesh,' Bakhtiar said.
The PUK needs Iran's help to reach the union's ends, he stressed.
About the conflicts between the Iranian and Kurdish forces, Bakhtiar said, 'We follow up the issue, we're worried about it and we have made our efforts to preserve good relations with the Kurds.'
The good relations with the Kurds will bring good future for the region, he stressed.
'We assure that the Iranian security will be preserved under any conditions,' he concluded.
