Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Vienna conferred on nuclear issue, fighting terrorism.

According to the Russia's Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper, Lavrov and Zarif in their meeting in Vienna on Tuesday have discussed ways of resolving remaining issues pertaining to Tehran's nuclear program.

The two officials also conferred on bilateral ties and regional cooperation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization including the BRICS and SCO summits of the world’s major emerging economies.

The summit will take place from July 8-10 in the Russian city of Ufa.

Lavrov and Zarif also discussed Syria crisis and fighting terrorism in the Middle East and the North Africa.

Iran and six major powers on Tuesday gave themselves time until July 7 to clinch a historic nuclear deal as a midnight deadline approached in marathon talks with no breakthrough.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who joined the talks in Vienna earlier Tuesday, said that a deal ending the 13-year standoff is 'within reach'.

The talks are 'progressing in a positive direction. There remain questions, mostly regarding procedural issues rather than technical ones,' Lavrov told Russian television after meeting US Secretary of State John Kerry.
