(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A book entitled “Pointing the Finger, Islam and Muslims in the British Media” has been presented at international book exhibition in Tehran.The book written by Julian Petley and Robin Richardson was published on April 1, 2011.In this study, several leading commentators examine the phenomenon of Islamophobia and ask how to tackle it. Charting recent media controversies and including interviews from Muslim journalists, this is a captivating insight into how Muslims are depicted in the West.The demonization of Islam, images of Islam in the UK, representation of British Muslims in the national press, political correctness gone mad, a question of leadership: who speaks for British Muslims, etc. are some of the topics discussed in this book.Julian Petley is Professor of Film and Television at Brunel University. He is the author of several books on censorship, and has written for the Guardian and Independent. Robin Richardson is Co-director of the Insted consultancy, focusing on issues of equality and diversity. His previous roles include director of the Runnymede Trust and chief inspector of education in the London borough of Brent. He is the author of “Islamophobia: A Challenge for Us All”.The 352-page book published by Oneworld Publications has been presented at the Pavilion of Islamic Awakening of the 25th edition of international book fair in Tehran.The exhibition which was opened on May 1 at Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (Grand Mosque) in Tehran will be underway until May 12. /129
