(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Islamic Center of England condoles Ayat. Rafsanjani demise. Here is full text of message of condolence:
We wish to express our sorrow and sadness for the demise of this great man who had a major role in the history of the Islamic movement in Iran. He was a close confidant and long standing assistant of Imam Khomeini and an associate and ally of the current Leader of the Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei.
Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani was one of the pillars of the struggle against the tyranny of the Pahlavi Shah. He endured immense hardships and was tortured in the noble path of the Islamic Revolution. He held a number of key positions with a remarkable track record of successful leadership and statesmanship.
He faithfully stood by Imam Khomeini and served the principles of the Islamic Republic while showing the utmost loyalty and commitment to the Leader and the Iranian people.
He started attending the Hawza in Qom when he was 14 years old and remained steadfast in his adherence to its values and was a sincere student of the school of Imam Jafar Al-Sadiq (a.s).
His exceptionally busy social and political life did not prevent him from deeply pondering on the teachings of the Quran. Even when he was in the atrocious prisons of the Shah, because of his close attachment to Quran, he started compiling a Tafsir of the Holy Quran and he gave many lectures on political and social principles in Islam which addressed the needs of modern society.
He viewed history as a beacon for the future . With an outlook full of hope towards the Islamic world and Iran in particular, he sincerely called on the youth to create a bright and honourable future for themselves and their people.
The Islamic Centre of England offers its deepest condolences to the Leader, the family of this magnificent personality, the Iranian people and Islamic Ummah on this great loss. We ask Allah SWT to bestow mercy and forgiveness upon his soul and may Allah SWT give patience to the family of the late Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani.
