(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The International Islamic Unity Conference started work on Wednesday in Moscow in the presence of a supreme religious delegation from Iran.
During the two-day event, delegates are supposed to review issues related to philosophy, religious discourse, and holy Quran as the base of unity, the logic of Islamic thoughts development with the focus on convergence in the Muslim world.
The conference was held in partnership with the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) and the Russian Council of Muftis.
Iranian delegation is headed by the WFPIST Secretary General Ayatollah Mohsen Araki.
Over 200 religious Ulamas, scholars and Russian academics and the representatives of the Islamic Organizations of Turkey, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, the Middle East, Northern Africa and South Eastern Asia have participated in the event.
Muslim experts are expected to discuss ways to confront extremist and terrorist groups namely Al Nusra and Daesh which have caused many difficulties for the Islamic world.
