(AhlulBayt News Agency) - “Imam Khomeini’s (RA) Quranic Thoughts” will be the theme of the first edition of a forum on Quranic Thoughts of Iranian and Senegalese Intellectuals to be organized in November in the city of Thies in Senegal.

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the decision for holding the program was made in a meeting of Seyyed Hassan Esmati, Iranian cultural attaché in Senegal, with Sheikh Muhammad Idris, director of the international affairs of "Ashaab Al-Yameen” school of thought.

The important role that Quranic diplomacy can play in Iran-Senegal cultural relations to develop the Muslim world’s unity was stressed in the meeting.

The Quranic thoughts of Sheikh Amadou Bamba, founder of the Mouride Brotherhood (the Muridiyya) will also be discussed in the forum.

Amadou Bamba (1850–1927) was a religious leader in Senegal who produced a prodigious quantity of poems and tracts on meditation, rituals, work, and Quranic study.

An exhibition of Quranic works and a documentary featuring the life of the intellectuals will be the sideline programs of the forum.

Islam is the predominant religion in Senegal, a country in West Africa with a population of around 14.5 million. 92 percent of its population is estimated to be Muslim.
