Yemen prepared to defend its vital ports; Attacking Al-Hodeidah a red line

In one of his speeches, Sayyed Abdulmalik warned the US-Saudi aggression from their continued closure of Yemeni ports, including the port of Al-Hodeidah, stressing the right of Yemen to take any sensitive steps in response, "we know the sensitive areas that we could target if the ports kept closed." Sayyed Abdulmalik explains that “today the port of Al-Hodeidah is being threatened and we cannot turn a blind eye to that.”

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The US-Saudi aggression tried to capture control of Al-Hodeidah, Yemen's main port city, since it started the war on Yemen, in March 2015, but could not defeat the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees. Some reports said that the US-Saudi aggression is advancing towards Al-Hodeidah port city. Attacking Al-Hodeidah port would be disastrous for the civilian population that depends on the port for what few goods are allowed in. Thus, the Yemeni People and its leadership consider this attempt is suicidal and will cost the countries of the aggression more damage than they are capable of handling.

In one of his speeches, Sayyed Abdulmalik warned the US-Saudi aggression from their continued closure of Yemeni ports, including the port of Al-Hodeidah, stressing the right of Yemen to take any sensitive steps in response, "we know the sensitive areas that we could target if the ports kept closed." Sayyed Abdulmalik explains that “today the port of Al-Hodeidah is being threatened and we cannot turn a blind eye to that.” He forewarns that if the Saudi regime and with a green light from the US attack Al-Hodeidah then we have to take steps that haven’t been taken before. "We could target Saudi oil tankers should Saudi Arabia attack Yemen’s main port of Al-Hodeidah," Sayyed Abdulmalik warned, "The Saudi oil facilities from today are targets to our ballistic missiles.”

The director of the Special Forces Training Center in the Yemeni army, Brigadier Aziz Rashid, said that the Rocketry Force succeeded in developing a new missile to protect the territorial waters and Yemeni international waterways. The missile system revealed by the Naval Forces and Coastal Defense, is a new strategic weapons, which it was developed and produced in cooperation between the Rocketry Force and Naval Forces. It has been called, Mandeb. The announcement of this new missile came as a response to the plan of the US-Saudi aggression to try to occupy Al-Hodeidah port or to close it by force, which has already been declared by the aggression forces. The US-Saudi aggression is reluctant because of fears of the Yemeni reactions and the losses incurred by this dangerous adventure.

From here we can read the statements of the official spokesman of Ansarullah, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, who said on November 6, 2017 that any miscalculated foolish move toward Al-Hodeidah by the aggression’s forces in the west coast of the country will be confronted with a decisive action that will have sever effects on the navigation in the Red Sea. The Yemeni people will not stand without any reaction toward the criminal actions of the aggression. US-Saudi advancing towards Al-Hodeidah port will not be easy and will encounter painful blows among the countries of the aggression and their vital posts.

Yemen is already reeling from the world’s most urgent humanitarian crisis where 22 million people need vital assistance. Attacking the port would still manage to make it even worse. The US-Saudi assault would lead to mass starvation, and the loss of life would be measured in the hundreds of thousands or possibly millions. Al-Hodeida is Yemen’s fourth largest city and is densely populated. Its port is a key lifeline, handling nearly 80 percent of the country’s food imports. The new UN envoy for Yemen warned Tuesday that reports of a possible military operation around a major urban center and a key seaport could ruin any hopes of ending that war.

“We also hear unconfirmed reports that movements of forces in Yemen are on the increase and that the terrible prospect of intensive military operations in Al-Hodeida, long heralded, may be soon forthcoming,” Martin Griffiths told council members.

An imminent attack on Al-Hodeida port and city will likely lead to further loss of life, displacement and suffering for the Yemeni people. Strategically positioned with easily accessible routes to the north and south of the country, Al-Hodeida is also located south of Ras Isa, a floating terminal which exports oil produced from the Marib governorate fields, therefore controlling this port is attractive to the US-Saudi aggression.

The war in Yemen, launched by more than a dozen of countries, represents a real threat to international trade in the region. Yemeni people have their right of self-defense by attacking the military concentrations of the countries of the aggression.
