The day of Arbaeen was marked all over the world in remembrance of Imam Husain (a.s) and the martyrs of Karbala who sacrificed their lives fighting for truth, humanity and justice. The Students of Aligarh Muslim University and the local residents of Aligarh City marked Arbaeen by commemorating Majalis (ceremonies) and processions in the different parts of the city.
The processions were carried out with a theme of peace and prosperity of human kind. The students carried placards of the sayings of national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru about Imam Husain (a.s). Some of the placards also displayed the sayings of Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenai and Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Sistani about the importance of the month of Moharram.
