(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The Syrian Army uncovered a large stockpile of weapons that were left behind by ISIS terrorists in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

According to a report from state-owned Al-Ikhbariya, the weapons were discovered by the Syrian Army in the western countryside of Albukamal.

The weapon stockpile consisted of a large quantity of IEDs, mines, and ammunition that were left behind by the ISIS terrorists after they abandoned this area.

The weapons were recently discovered, despite the fact the ISIS terrorists retreated from the area almost eight months ago.

The Syrian Army expects to find more stockpiles of weapons left behind by ISIS, as they have yet to fully clear all the buildings in this vast desert region.

The city of Albukamal is located in the southeastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate; it was previously one of the ISIS' most important strongholds in eastern Syria because of its proximity to the Iraqi border.
