Quran manuscript repaired in Imam Hussein (AS) Holy Shrine

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A manuscript copy of the Holy Quran donated by a Nigerian citizen to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in Karbala has been repaired by the Astan’s Center for Preserving Manuscripts.

According to the website of the Astan, Munaf al-Tamimi, the director of the center, said it began the repair work soon after donation of the copy.

He said a leather covering was added to the binding and the pages were decorated with Taz’hib (illumination) designs.

The center has hundreds of manuscripts, including old copies of the Quran and religious books.

Some of these manuscript copies that date back to centuries ago are of special cultural value.
