AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip and in Ramallah City, in the central occupied West Bank, protested the United States administartion's decision to cut all funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), on Tuesday.
Protesters in Gaza City held signs condemning the US cut as they stood in front of the UNRWA headquarters in the city, saying that the cut represents "declaring war against the Palestinian people and their cause."
A specialist in refugee affairs, Jamal Abu Habal, said that such activities aim to send messages to the UN Secretary-General and members of the General Assembly to stand with the people and the decisions they have made more than 70 years ago; especially resolutions 194 and 382.
He called upon the UN to make a "serious decision" regarding the refugees and their right of return.
In a protest organized by the National and Islamic forces in Ramallah in front of a United States Agency for International Development office, dozens of Palestinians protested the US decision.
Protesters burned pictures of US President Donald Trump and held signs denouncing the decision, saying it aims to end the Palestinian right of return by dismantling the agency responsible for "looking after" 5.3 million Palestinian refugees.
Issam Bakr, a protester, said that the aim of the protest is to express rejection of the "American extortion policy."
Bakr pointed out that the US "declares war" against the refugees' right of return by cutting its aid to UNRWA.
The US had announced cutting all funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), last week.
