Based on the information of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security, the Iraqi Air Force carried out several air strikes, resulting in the destruction of a den belonging to the ISIS militants.
The strikes killed a number of ISIS militants including the deputy governor of Hawija, according the Iraqi War Media Cell.
Moreover, the air raid destroyed 10 vehicles, a laboratory for preparing car bombs and a weapons cache belonging to the extremist group in Hawija, the statement said.
Hawija, some 30 miles west of Kirkuk, is a strategic town which has fallen into the hands of ISIS since mid-2014. Iraqi authorities postponed an operation to liberate the town last year, instead they moved onto central Mosul.
