(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Iran's Majlis (Parliament) speaker called for regional unity that will lead to expulsion of terrorists from the region.
'Terrorism as a calamity has hurt all religions and ethnic groups in the region,' Ali Larijani said while touring St Mary Church, the ancient Assyrian church, in this northwestern Iranian city.
Not only the Iraqi and Syrian Muslims, but also the Christians have been oppressed due to the critical conditions created by the terrorists in the region, Larijani told the Christians at the church.
Yonathan Betkolia, Representative of the Assyrians in Iran's Majlis, was also present in the church, appreciating Iran's attention devoted to the rights of the religious minorities in the country.
Betkolia further urged the so-called advocates of the human rights to learn from Iran.
Larijani arrived here on Sunday morning to open several development projects.
St. Mary Church is the second oldest church after Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem which is called Beyt Lahm and located in the central West Bank in the occupied Palestinian territories.
