Trump's Quds decision strategic mistake: Iran's Shamkhani

'However, it made the Palestine cause the priority to the Muslim world. The decision prompted solidarity of the followers of all religions with Muslims, and the process will be continued until the decision is reversed,' he said.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said on Sunday that the US decision on moving embassy to Holy Quds was a strategic mistake.

Recognizing Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime was a strategic mistake by the US President Donald Trump, Shamkhani told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of the Islamic Revolution's anniversary rally in Tehran.

'However, it made the Palestine cause the priority to the Muslim world. The decision prompted solidarity of the followers of all religions with Muslims, and the process will be continued until the decision is reversed,' he said.

The controversial decision by Trump that was announced last December has prompted strong criticisms from all around the world.

The Palestinians see the holy city of Quds as the occupied capital of their future country.

Shamkhani also denounced the claims by the Zionist officials on the alleged role of Iran in downing their warplane over Syria after violating the Arab country's air space, saying that the regime should accept the outcomes of its aggressive acts.

Commenting on the nuclear deal between Iran and the world major powers, he said that the agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is not negotiable.

'The signatories have to remain committed to the deal if they are to defend their credibility,' he said.
