Speaking to the reporters while visiting the monument of Imam Reza’s (AS) footstep, Dr Hassan Rouhani said: “Merv is a very ancient city with a special importance in the history and it has been a cultural and scientific centre and there are many great libraries in this city”.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - President Rouhani visited the historical sites of Merv city in Turkmenistan on Wednesday on the second day of his official visit to the country.

Speaking to the reporters while visiting the monument of Imam Reza’s (AS) footstep, Dr Hassan Rouhani said: “Merv is a very ancient city with a special importance in the history and it has been a cultural and scientific centre and there are many great libraries in this city”.

Referring to the presence of Imam Reza (AS) in the city, he said: “Many of the arguments, works and words that have been left from Imam Reza are related to this land and this is why this city is holy for us”.

“This city is both historical and holy for us,” said Rouhani, wishing a year full of success, liveliness and felicity for the entire Iranian nation and Muslims.
