AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): President welcomed deepening of relations between Tehran and London and said: "Fortunately, in recent years, Iran and Britain have had a serious will to develop relations between the two countries".

Speaking in a meeting with British Ambassador to Tehran Rob Macaire on Tuesday while receiving his letter of credence, Dr Hassan Rouhani said: "Today, we are in a very critical point in history regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and Europe's transparent measures in compensating for the United States' illegal withdrawal from the deal is very important for the Iranian nation".

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought tensions in the region and does not want any problem to happen for world's waterways, but will never let go of its rights to export oil," said the President.

Dr Rouhani also criticised incomplete implementation of the nuclear deal in business and economic fields, as well as banking relations by some signatories, saying: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is always ready to develop relations with European countries and now, after US' illegal withdrawal from the JCPOA, the ball is in Europe's court in the limited time remaining".

At the same meeting, British Ambassador to Tehran Rob Macaire presented his letter of credence to the President and said that the British government supports JCPOA's implementation and continuation.

He said: "Today, European countries are trying hard for the deal to survive, especially in relation to its economic aspects, which is unprecedented".

Iran's de-escalation policies in the region are very important, he said, adding: "We are seeking to further develop relations with Iran and believe that resolving crises and issues is only possible through dialogue and diplomacy".
