(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Leader’s senior adviser Velayati, while pointing to recent Astana talks on Syria, said the raised suggestions had to be confirmed by Syrian people and government.
Head of Strategic Researches Center at Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting with State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Markus Ederer.
The Iranian official noted that the meeting, which marked the third session of its kind, had yielded positive outcomes.
Velayati, while pointing to numerous commonalities between Iran and Germany, said both sides were after development of economic and political relations in view of their good interaction on regional and international issues; “Tehran and Berlin agree that regional states had the right to resolve their issues and preserve their territorial integrity.”
Similar to Iran, German is also opposed to fragmentation of regional countries and believe that regional issues need political rather than military solutions, he noted.
Ali Akbar Velayati further stated that Iran also held partnership with the Germany side in implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action adding “international collaborations between the two sides in the UN will continue as Germans are deemed as Iran’s trusted partner in Europe.”
On Astana talks and authorization of the memo creating the de-escalation zones across Syria, Velayati described Astana talks as the most positive political meetings held in relation to Syria reiterating that “all proposals, which are made in good faith indeed, are preliminary and can be accepted only if they are approved by the government and people of Syria."
He said Iran, Russia and Turkey sought to help Syrians and prevent desintigration of the Arab country as well as to put an end to terrorism in its soil in a bid to restore full sovereignty to the whole territory of the Syrian government.
This explains why Iran and Russia take part at positive political negotiations to defend the government and the people of Syria and its territorial integrity and independence, said the official.
