Turkey to work with Iran, Russia on Syria: Erdogan

Ankara will continue cooperation with Moscow and Tehran to prevent any catastrophe in Syrian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Ankara will continue cooperation with Moscow and Tehran to prevent any catastrophe in Syrian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

President Erdogan made the remarks in a speech in Ankara on Thursday.

'We are carrying out work together with the Russians and the Iranians to prevent the catastrophe which took place in Aleppo from repeating in Idlib. We are also engaged in talks with the US [authorities], we are looking for ways to clear Manbij of terrorists,' Sputnik qouted Erdogan from Turkish CNN report.

On Thursday, also, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said the three guarantor states of the Syrian ceasefire were holding consultations about Idlib.

The European Union foreign ministers have warned on situation in the Syrian city, agreeing that escalation in Idlib should be avoided at all costs, a source close to EU has told Sputnik.

Erdogan will visit Iran on September 7 to participate in a trilateral meeting on Syria with his Iranian and Russian counterparts, media announced earlier this month.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a meeting in Ankara on Wednesday discussed latest developments in Syria.

Cooperation among Iran, Russia and Turkey for solving Syrian crisis, known as Astana process, began some two years ago. Since then, a number of talks have been held and significant progress has been made.

Thirteen meetings of experts have also been convened so far; the results of which show that regional disputes and crises can be solved through joint efforts.
