(AhlulBayt News Agency) - After 128 years of French brutal colonialism, in May 1943, France conducted a scientific experiment aimed at eliminating the spirit of Islam among the youth of Algeria.
Ten Muslim girls were chosen in Algeria. These girls went to French schools under the supervision of the French government. They wore French clothing, behaved like a typical citizen and became familiar with their customs. After 11 years from the start of this colonial program, the French government set up a graduation ceremony for these girls that ministers, journalists and intellectuals were invited to see the result of the experiment, in person.
As the young girls entered the celebration hall, there was a heavy silence everywhere. After 11 years of trying and planning by French government, young Algerian girls walked to the hall wearing Islamic hijab and Algerian clothing.
Present officials were outraged at the scene. Journalists quickly reached themselves to Robert Lacoste, the Minister of the French Colonies. One of them stepped up and asked: “If the French government failed to remove hijab from a bunch of Algerian girls in 11 years, what was it doing during these 120 years?
Lacoste said: “what am I meant to do if the Qur’an is stronger than France?!
