The Turkmen authorities allowed to travel abroad only to persons older than 40 years. Previously the age limit for leaving the country was 30 years.
(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Turkmenistan authorities imposed age limit on leaving the country for citizens under 40 years of age. It is reported that residents of the city of Dashoguz, 630 kilometers from Ashgabat, learned in the migration service of the city that the ban on leaving the country for citizens of the country has been increased from 30 to 40 years.
According to several residents who applied to the migration service for permission to obtain a tourist visa, officials refused to issue a certificate, explaining the presence of an "order from above" about a new age limit of up to 40 years.
"The migration service officials said that there was an order from above, based on which no permission to leave is given to anyone before reaching the age of 40. When asked about the reason for the ban, they said that there was no one able to work in the velayat (oblast).
"If you all leave, who will work," said a 36-year-old resident of the district named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi, who introduced himself as Shadurdyev.
Representatives of the migration service of Turkmenistan did not comment on the information about the next restriction on the departure of citizens abroad. The authorities of Turkmenistan have not officially announced the ban on leaving the country.
Official data on the number of citizens leaving Turkmenistan are not available. But, according to local observers, because of the ongoing economic crisis, accompanied by unemployment, rising prices and food shortages, migration, primarily labor, has acquired a massive character.
