Pakistani families stage demonstration to demand release of missing Shia Muslims

The families and supporters of missing Shia Muslims staged a demonstration outside Masjid-e-Khair-ul-Amal in Federal B Area Karachi to protest against the enforced disappearance of their near and dear ones.

KARACHI, Pakistan (AhlulBayt News Agency) - The families and supporters of missing Shia Muslims staged a demonstration outside Masjid-e-Khair-ul-Amal in Federal B Area Karachi to protest against the enforced disappearance of their near and dear ones.

The wives, mothers and children of the missing Shia Muslims were carrying the banners, placards and portraits of their missing relatives. They also raised slogans demanding immediate release of the missing Shia Muslims.

Asad Butt and Dr Riaz of Human Rights Commission Pakistan (HRCP), Rashid Rizvi of Missing Shias Release Committee, Hassan Raza Sohail and Razi Hyder Rizvi spoke to the protesters.

They lamented that bread earners of Shia families were taken into illegal and undeclared custody without any charge against them. They said that their detention has cost dearly to their elderly parents, children and wives. They said that these families are dependents on the income of those of their relatives who have been subjected to enforced disappearance.

They demanded that the state authorities are responsible for their poverty and hunger and for all of their sufferings. They asked the government to tell who will bear expenses of education children of missing Shia Muslims and who will feed them in the absence of their bread earners.

Rashid Rizvi urged the community’s philanthropists to come forward to shoulder their responsibilities by financial assistance to the affected families.
