(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A number of Quran recitation sessions are scheduled to be organized in India on the occasion of the birthday of Imam Ali (AS).
They will be held by the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas holy shrine on the sidelines of the 5th Amir al-Muminin (AS) cultural festival.
Internationally-acclaimed Qaris from Iraq are among Quran activists who will recite verses from the Holy Quran in the programs.
Imam Ali (AS) birthday falls on the 13th of Rajab in the lunar Hijri calendar (this year on April 11).
He was Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s highly revered son-in-law and cousin as well as the first Imam of Shia Islam.
Imam Ali (AS) is respected for his courage, knowledge, belief, honesty, unbending devotion to Islam, deep loyalty to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), equal treatment of all Muslims and generosity in forgiving his defeated enemies.
The Amir al-Muminin (AS) cultural festival is annually organized in India by the Astan of Hazrat Abbas (AS) in cooperation with the custodianships of other Iraqi holy sites.
It includes Quran competition, book fairs, Quranic programs, and religious programs aimed at promoting the culture of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
