Jailed Bahraini dissident thrown into solitary confinement

Jailed Bahraini dissident Husain Ali al-Sahlawi was reportedly thrown into solitary confinement on Wednesday for praying while prison guards performed a headcount.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Jailed Bahraini dissident Husain Ali al-Sahlawi was reportedly thrown into solitary confinement on Wednesday for praying while prison guards performed a headcount.

Authorities at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison accused Al-Sahlawi of violating the facility’s regulations, arguing that he should have halted his prayer when the guards were counting the inmates.

Jaw detainees have made a whole slew of allegations in recent years about being denied their right to freedom of religion.

Many say that they are punished for practicing their faith and marking Shiite religious occasions.
