(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The detained Bahraini Shiite cleric, Sayyed Mohieldin Al-Mashaal, will be tried on charges of inciting “hatred against the regime” and using sectarian rhetoric.
The news comes just weeks after the cleric was detained by Manama’s security services. The kingdom’s Public Prosecutor ordered Sayyed Al-Mashaal remanded in custody during the course of the ‘investigation’.
Prior to his arrest on August 14, Sayyed Al-Mashaal endured years of legal harassment at the hands of the Manama regime.
Manama has detained scores of clerics in recent months as part of an intensified clampdown on the country’s Shiite majority.
