(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Manama's security forces jailed a number of minors without offering any legal justification for their detention.
Jassem Abdul Jalil Hassan [13 years old], Ali Hussain Abdullah [12 years old], and Hussein Ali [14 years old] have been remanded in the custody of the police for a week, pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, a Manama court sentenced another minor, Mohammed Abdul Hussein, to a full year in prison. He was summoned for questioning in April without being informed of the allegations against him.
Minors in Bahrain are routinely taken into custody without cause or an arrest warrant. Countless rights groups, including Human Rights Watch [HRW], blasted Manama in the past for "routinely" detaining children and subjecting them to "ill-treatment that may rise to the level of torture."
