Bahraini detainee denied urgently needed medication

The Bahrain Institute For Rights and Democracy (BIRD) is reporting that Bahraini detainee Ali Al-Haji is being denied “access to urgent medication”.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Bahrain Institute For Rights and Democracy (BIRD) is reporting that Bahraini detainee Ali Al-Haji is being denied “access to urgent medication”.

The rights group did not elaborate on the reasons but described the punitive measure as “another stark illustration of medical negligence against political prisoners.”

Al-Haji, who is serving a lengthy prison term, recently observed a hunger strike over the absence of proper health care in Bahrain’s Jaw Prison.

Last month, Amnesty International released a report that accused the kingdom’s prison system of “frequent, ongoing, and in some cases willful medical negligence”.
