Bahraini court adjourns appeal of female detainees until later this month

Manama’s High Criminal Court of Appeal adjourned proceedings against four Bahraini female detainees on Tuesday until September 24.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Manama’s High Criminal Court of Appeal adjourned proceedings against four Bahraini female detainees on Tuesday until September 24.

Muna Habib, Hamida Alkhor, Amira Al-Qashaami and Faten Hussein are appealing 5-year prison terms, which they received in February after being found guilty of aiding a ‘fugitive’.

The verdict, part of a mass trial involving nearly 60 defendants, was widely criticized by rights groups as being politically motivated.

Other defendants in the case were slapped with the death penalty and life imprisonment over ‘terrorism’ charges.
